Guide · Status match

The Explora status match isn't a button. It's a request I make for you.

If you hold elite status with another luxury cruise line or hotel program, Explora can recognize it. But there's no toggle in your account to flip. The match is a request someone submits on your behalf, and that someone is me. Here's how it works.

The exact programs and tiers Explora matches are set by Explora and change over time, so I confirm what yours maps to before you book rather than quote a number off a page. Independent travel advisor of Fora Travel; booking through me costs the same as direct.

The plain answer first, before any of the framing: an Explora Journeys status match is a request to have your existing elite status from another luxury cruise line or hotel loyalty program recognized on Explora, so you start with a higher tier of benefits instead of from zero. It is not a feature you self-activate. It's reviewed and applied by Explora when an advisor submits proof of your current standing.

That distinction is the whole reason this page exists. People search for "Explora status match" expecting to find a form in their account, the way an airline or a hotel app lets you request one. There isn't one. The match runs through a person, and the practical version of that is: send me proof of your current tier, and I start it.

What the status match actually is

Luxury travel programs reward loyalty, and they know that a guest who has earned top-tier status somewhere else is exactly the guest a new line wants to win. A status match is the mechanism for that. It looks at the elite tier you already hold, with a competing cruise line or a hotel group, and recognizes a comparable level on Explora so you don't have to re-earn from the bottom.

Explora recognizes status from a range of other luxury cruise and hotel programs. The specific list of which programs and which tiers it honors, and exactly what each one converts to, is set by Explora and moves over time. That's not me being cagey; it's why a generic page that promises "your Diamond tier becomes X" is the wrong thing to trust. I confirm what your tier maps to against the current terms before you book.

How I run it for you

There's not much you have to do, which is the point. The sequence:

  • You send me proof of your current tier. A screenshot of your account showing the program and your level is enough to start. Cruise line or hotel program, either works.
  • I submit the match. This is the request that doesn't exist as a button on Explora's site. I make it on your behalf and confirm what Explora recognizes your status as.
  • I tell you exactly what it converts to. Not a guess off a webpage, the real tier, against the terms live at the time, so you know what you're actually getting before you commit to anything.
  • I make sure it's attached to your booking. A match that isn't tied to your sailing does you no good at the gangway. I see it through so it's settled before you board, not something you're sorting out in the terminal.

It costs you nothing extra. The fare is identical whether you book with the line or through me, so the only difference is that you skip the part where you'd otherwise discover there was no button to press. This is the kind of unglamorous logistics work that's the actual job. More on why booking through me costs the same and does more.

What matched status can get you

The point of a match is to skip ahead, so what it's worth depends on what tier you land on and what that tier carries. In broad terms, recognized status in a luxury cruise loyalty program tends to unlock benefit categories like these:

  • A starting tier of loyalty benefits rather than entry-level, so your first Explora Journey counts as if you'd already sailed with them.
  • Onboard recognition and amenities that come with the tier, the specifics of which vary by level and by current program terms.
  • A foothold for future status: a matched tier is a head start on whatever the program rewards as you sail more, rather than starting that clock at zero.

I'm being general here on purpose. The exact perks attached to a given tier are Explora's to set and they change, so the useful version isn't a list I publish, it's the confirmation I give you for your specific match before you book. If a particular benefit is the thing that decides it for you, tell me, and I'll verify whether your matched tier actually carries it.

Send me your tier and I'll start it

That's the whole offer, and it's a small ask. Send me a screenshot of your current tier with another luxury cruise line or hotel program, and I'll start the match: confirm what Explora recognizes it as, tell you the real converted tier against today's terms, and attach it to your booking. If your status doesn't qualify for a worthwhile match, I'll tell you that too, plainly, rather than waste your time.
