Agadir is Morocco's main Atlantic beach city, rebuilt on a modern grid after a 1960 earthquake leveled the old town. What to do on a day in Agadir

• Kasbah of Agadir Oufella: 16th-century hilltop ramparts about 20 minutes uphill, with wide views over the bay and the rebuilt city
• Souk El Had: one of Morocco's largest markets, with thousands of stalls of spices, leather, argan oil, and rugs
• Agadir Beach and its promenade: a 5 km crescent of sand with cafes, beach bars, and camel rides
• Agadir Marina: a modern white-walled harbor quarter of cafes and restaurants between the beach and the commercial port
• Vallee des Oiseaux: a small green strip park running through the center, an easy stop between the beach and the souk

Getting ashore

The ship docks at the commercial port about 3 km from the beachfront, too far to walk comfortably, so use the cruise shuttle or a petit taxi for the roughly 10-minute ride into town. One day easily covers the beach, marina, kasbah viewpoint, and the souk, since they sit close together once you are in the city.

Weather and when to visit

• Spring (March to May). Typically warm and sunny, daytime highs around 21-24 C with low rainfall and long clear spells. Among the most pleasant windows for the uphill kasbah walk.
• Autumn to winter (October to February). Typically mild, highs around 20-24 C dropping toward 20 C in winter, with cooler nights and the year's modest rain peaking in December. Days stay largely clear and sunny.
