Getting ashore

Ships berth right at the city edge, with Piazza Duomo and the cathedral clock about a five-minute walk away and Messina Centrale station roughly 15 minutes on foot. One day is enough for Messina itself or for one inland trip to Taormina or Etna, but not comfortably for both, so pick before you dock.
