Getting ashore

Ships berth at the Northland Cruise Terminal, also called Atlin Terminal, right on the downtown waterfront. You step off into Cow Bay and reach the main shopping streets in a flat five to ten minute walk, so one day is enough for the town and a single excursion, but not for both town and the distant grizzly sanctuary.

Weather and when to visit

• May to early October (Alaska cruise season). Typically cool and damp. Summer highs run about 59 to 64 F (15 to 18 C). This is one of Canada's rainiest towns, so rain is common in any month; pack a waterproof shell rather than an umbrella.
