Seven nights, seven ports, no sea days. This is a one-way run from Genoa to Lisbon that crosses five countries and never gives you a slow morning, so you trade unwinding at sea for a steady cadence of cities you can mostly walk. The shape favors old quarters: Genoa drops you a flat ten to fifteen minutes from the Porto Antico and its caruggi, the tall dark medieval alleys; Cádiz ties up at the edge of the historic center with no tendering, an easy day among a baroque cathedral, a Roman theatre, and a working market; Lisbon lands you at the foot of Alfama, a tangle of staircases and miradouros across the road from the terminal. In between, Tangier hands you a compact medina-and-kasbah loop on foot, and Tangier and Cádiz both sit close enough to the ship to skip the bus.
A word of candor. Two ports cost you time getting in. Marseille docks at Mourepiane in the north industrial port, several miles out, so you shuttle to Joliette before the city opens up. Barcelona uses the most distant pier on the Adossat quay, a shuttle or taxi from the center. If you want lazy days and long lunches, a route with sea days suits you better. This one rewards travelers who like to move, who would rather log a city a day than linger.
