7 nights, Southampton to Reykjavik
Explora's name for it: A Journey through Nordic Discoveries & Geothermal Wonders
Seven nights, six calls, one way from Southampton up to Reykjavik. The shape is a steady climb north: an English gateway, then Ireland's wild Inishowen coast, the Outer Hebrides, and three Iceland ports before the capital. Southampton is a turnaround call more than a sightseeing one, though the Old Town walls and Bargate fill a morning. Greencastle is a tender anchorage off Lough Foyle where the real prize is inland, Derry's walls and the Giant's Causeway. Stornoway splits between its walkable town and the run out to the Callanish Standing Stones, a stone circle older than Stonehenge. Then Iceland gets good: at Seydisfjordur the ship docks in the middle of a tiny fjord town, so the blue church, the rainbow street, and the Tvisongur sound domes are all on foot.
This route rewards travelers who want the far north worked top to bottom and do not mind that two early calls are gateways rather than headliners. If you want a relaxed, sun-warm itinerary or shore time over transit, look elsewhere. Greencastle is weather-dependent and tender-bound, and a Sunday call on Lewis can strand you without the Callanish bus. At Akureyri, Godafoss is the higher-value outing over Myvatn for a single ship day. End in Reykjavik, where Perlan's rooftop beats the Hallgrimskirkja queue.
Explora IV is all-suite, all-oceanfront.
