Getting ashore

The guest harbor sits at the innermost part of Leirvik center, so you step off into the town with no transfer needed. Everything in town is within a short flat walk; the open-air museum is a few minutes uphill. One day is more than enough for the town and museum, with time for a short boat trip or part of the Kattnakken climb.

Weather and when to visit

• July to September (main season). Typically 10 to 16°C, July and August mildest. Western-fjord climate means changeable skies and a real chance of rain on any given day, often mixed with bright spells.
• June (shoulder). A touch cooler, generally 9 to 15°C, with long daylight and the same mix of sun and passing showers off the fjord.
