You start in Barcelona, where Sagrada Família's stone columns and the Gothic Quarter's medieval alleys sit within reach of one dense, walkable day. Cádiz is the easy one, the ship at the edge of an old town ringed by sea on three sides, the cathedral and Roman theatre a few minutes from the gates. Funchal pairs a flat seafront and its 1940 market with a cable car up to Monte and a wicker toboggan steered down public street by two men on foot. Buy this for the arc and the sea days. The long Atlantic stretch is the point: time at sea between two distinct worlds, not a port every morning. If you measure a sailing by how many places you touch, the open-water days will read as empty, and you should pick a port-dense itinerary instead. The Caribbean calls here are beach and walking days, light on big-ticket sights, so a beach-first traveler is rewarded and a sightseeing collector is not.
