Ships anchor in Road Bay and tender directly onto Sandy Ground Beach in the village, no terminal, just sand and bar shacks. Sandy Ground itself is walkable on arrival; for the headline beaches like Shoal Bay East you will need a taxi. One day is enough to settle into one beach well, which is how Anguilla is meant to be done.

Weather and when to visit

• December to April (dry season). The island's driest, sunniest stretch and peak season. Typical highs around 78 to 82F, lows near 75F, steady trade winds, and sea temperatures around 79F for swimming.
• February to March. The driest months of all, averaging about one rainy day each and roughly 1.8 inches of rain monthly, with warm settled days in the high 70s to low 80s.
