The arc is mostly gateway days. Piraeus is the port of Athens, with the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, and the old-town streets clustered within a 10 to 20 minute walk inland. If you would rather linger, or you bristle at tender-port crowds, Santorini's cable car becomes the entire day's bottleneck when ships share the caldera, and this is not your itinerary. It rewards the traveler who plans each port tightly and books timed entries early.
