7 nights, Miami to San Juan
Explora's name for it: A Journey of Sparkling Skies & Bright Beginnings
This is a one-way run from Miami to San Juan, seven nights across nine calls, with a single fireworks sea day in the middle to break the rhythm. It leans full: a stack of close-together island stops, most of them tender ports where you anchor offshore and ride in. The hooks are real and varied. Puerto Plata gives you a 16th-century Spanish fort and a cable car up Mount Isabel de Torres, best ridden early before the summit caps in cloud. Saint John is built around Virgin Islands National Park, where the Lind Point Trail behind the visitor center walks you to a near-empty beach. Jost Van Dyke is one slow afternoon at White Bay, the kind of place with no traffic lights. The run finishes in Old San Juan, where the ship ties up at the cobbled piers and El Morro is a short uphill walk.
Who it rewards: someone who likes a brisk, beach-and-fort cadence and does not mind tendering in repeatedly. Who should skip it: anyone wanting deep cultural days or a slower pace. Several stops, Catalina and Jost Van Dyke especially, are half-day water ports, and you only get one excursion at Basseterre before the day is spent. If you want fewer ports and more time, pick a different routing.
The ship is all-suite, all-oceanfront.
