Getting ashore

The ship docks at the single pier on the waterfront in the center of town, a five-minute walk from the main square and the market. One day is plenty for the old town and the Bonaparte trail on foot; you would only need a car or tour if you wanted the inland mountains or the Sanguinaires islands.

• September to October. Typically still warm, highs in the low to mid 20s C with sea temperatures near 23C, but the back half of September and October bring a rising chance of heavy Mediterranean downpours.
