EXPLORA II · Mediterranean & Western Europe

21 nights, Piraeus (Athens) to Lisbon

November 29, 2026 – December 21, 2026 · 21 nights · 16 stops

Explora's name for it: An Extended Journey from Mediterranean Tranquility to Untamed Atlantic Shores

This is a 21-night, one-way crossing from Piraeus to Lisbon with 16 stops, and it splits cleanly into two halves. The first runs through the classic Mediterranean: the Acropolis above Athens, where the Parthenon, Agora, and Plaka cluster within a 10 to 20 minute walk; Santorini's flooded caldera, with Fira and Oia stacked on the cliff rim; Valletta's honey-limestone bastions and the largest Caravaggio in the cathedral the Knights raised. Then a string of gateway ports (Messina for Taormina and Etna, Naples for Pompeii, Civitavecchia for Rome, Livorno for Florence) before the Riviera at Villefranche, a rare port where you walk straight off the tender and onto a train to Nice or Monaco. After Barcelona the voyage turns Atlantic: Ceuta on the African coast, Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque built out over the water, then the Canaries, Madeira's wicker-sled descent from Monte, and Lisbon's Alfama at the dock.

Who it rewards: a traveler with the time for a long, varied arc who treats the gateway days as a feature, not a chore. Several stops here (Messina, Civitavecchia, Livorno) are really transfers to one inland city, so commit to one and reserve timed entries before you sail. If you want short, low-friction port days or a single region's character, pick a tighter Mediterranean itinerary instead. This one is for the slow build west.

Explora II is all-suite, all-oceanfront.
